Marissa and Terry’s December wedding was a beautiful and memorable celebration that perfectly captured the spirit of the holiday season. Held at the couple’s home, in the southeast community of Lauderdale County, right outside of Meridian, Mississippi. The couple chose to host their wedding outdoors, which added a touch of natural beauty and rustic charm to the festivities. The setting was stunning, with towering trees, twinkling lights, and an intimate atmosphere that made everyone feel at home.
One of the highlights of the day was the private first look that Marissa and Terry shared before the ceremony, at the alter before guests arrived. Marissa’s veil was her mother’s veil from 20 years ago. It blew gently in the wind. Their first look was a beautiful moment of intimacy and tenderness that allowed the couple to connect before the celebration began. They held hands and looked into each other’s eyes, savoring the anticipation and excitement of the day ahead.
After the couple’s first look, we immediately transitioned into couple’s photos, bridal party, and family. began to arrive for family formals. These images turned out beautifully despite the cold weather!
The sunset ceremony itself was simple and heartfelt, with traditional vows that reflected the couple’s deep love and commitment to each other. As they exchanged rings and became husband and wife, their guests cheered and clapped, rejoicing in their happiness and the beauty of the moment.
After the ceremony, everyone jumped in a receiving line to congratulate the new couple in front of a custom backdrop, while I photographed Marissa & Terry with each guest! Then everyone enjoyed a delicious southern fried comfort food buffet that featured all of Marissa and Terry’s favorite dishes. From fresh fried chicken and warm mac and cheese to greens and cornbread, the food was a delicious and comforting feast that warmed everyone’s hearts and souls. (I loved the corn fritters!)
As the night fell, the couple and their guests danced under the stars, surrounded by the twinkling lights and the soft glow of the moon. The music was lively and energetic, and everyone moved to the beat with joy and abandon. Marissa and Terry shared a tender first dance, swaying to the music and lost in the magic of the moment. To this day, I still laugh about Terry claiming to not dance, yet he danced with every lady in attendance who would accept!
Throughout the evening, there were countless moments of laughter, love, and joy that filled everyone’s hearts. It was a beautiful celebration of two people who had found true love and were ready to start their journey together. As the night came to a close, the guests hugged and said their goodbyes, leaving with memories that would last a lifetime. Marissa and Terry’s December wedding was a truly magical event that embodied the spirit of the holiday season and the power of love!
